Dear Animal Friends,
We are appalled by the number of dogs that are sentenced to death or who suffer abusive sentences for having bit someone, without an investigation or a trial being carried out to find out the exact circumstances of the incident.
Dogs are not machines they are sentient beings who have their own emotions and their own way of perceiving the world. It is therefore quite possible for a dog to bite without being aggressive, in reaction to a stressful or threatening situation. Dogs have emotional intelligence and can feel fear, pain, or frustration, which can cause them to bite without malicious intent.
It is also important to understand that the dogs are not aware of the penalties incurred against them when they bite. They are not able to protect themselves from the legal consequences of their actions because they do not understand human rules.
However, it is unacceptable that non-human individuals, such as dogs, are still sentenced to death, while humans who have committed much more serious acts are not condemned in the same way. We need to rethink our approach to animals, which are often treated as objects, despite being sentient beings with unique personalities.
It is therefore unacceptable to sentence a dog to death or an abusive sentence without a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the incident. The competent authorities must take the time to understand why the dog bit and determine if educational measures or safety measures are necessary to prevent future incidents.
We therefore ask the competent authorities to take a fairer and more balanced approach to biting dogs. We require that investigations are carried out to understand the reasons for the incident, that dogs are treated with respect and compassion, and that educational or safety measures are put in place to prevent future incidents.
In signing this petition, we demand that the rights of dogs be respected and that abusive sentences for biting dogs be stopped immediately. We also ask that the death penalty for animals be abolished, because it does not respect animal rights and does not reflect a just and fair society.
Thank you for your support of our four-legged friends.
