A shop that has… some dog! Since April 13, 2023, the animal concept-store “mascot” opened its doors at 12, rue perchepinte, in the district of Saint-Étienne in Toulouse.
In the heart of the Pink City, this small 38 m² shop wants to highlight products that are unknown to pet stores and offers a service of self-service grooming.
original products
“I had this project in mind for two years,” says Flovia Busato, formerly in marketing and communication. During confinement, I noticed that there was not much choice for animals in the hypercentre. »
This Toulouse animal lover decides to take the lead. Coming out of the pandemic, she set up her first business, inspired by an American model. “I offer accessories that you won’t find everywhere, made by young brands,” she explains.
Collars, harnesses, toys, leash, but also food with the brand biofood whose store is located at Villefranche-de-Lauragais. “The goal is to highlight things that are out of the ordinary, for example, do-it-yourself ice cream, dry shampoo…”

“Everyone regularly orders online for animals, but we are sometimes disappointed with the products. With Maskotte, I want to develop a local business in a neighborhood in demand with lots of pet owners,” says Flovia Busato.
La Toulousaine assures her, she is not in competition with pet shops. “I don’t offer flea brushes or things in that line, that’s not the goal.”
Self-service grooming
Small particularity of this shop, self-service grooming. “We have a raised bathtub to facilitate bathing, with professional drying equipment and products whose composition is qualitative”, assures the 31-year-old Toulouse woman. At the back of the shop, the bathtub gives way.

For prices, they vary between 15 and 35 euros, depending on the size of the dog and the coat. It is possible to only make a brushing to his animals, such as cats for example, for a few euros. “Everything is available, it’s cheaper, because there is no professional on site,” explains Flovia Busato.
Workshops for your animals
Flovia does not want to stop there. The goal of Maskotte is above all “the exchange” on dogs and cats. “I’m just starting out, so I’m also here to talk with customers and listen to their recommendations.”
A moment of exchange that she wants to materialize through of workshops. The first will take place Saturday, May 20 in the shop with a dog and cat behaviorist, all 100% free “to be accessible to all”.
In the future, she would like to offer other workshops, even with dog trainers to take advantage of the proximity to the royal garden. “The animal has taken another place in our lives today, they are members of the family”.
