Since November, a woman has been renting an apartment a few minutes from Rugles (Orne), except that for several months, Marie*, the owner’s daughter, has found herself in a situation where she cannot find a way out.
“I got mugged”
According to her, five Malinois would be locked up all day in 27 m² even though the tenant no longer lives there.
Sometimes they manage to run away from home and there is panic.
Panic since, “when they escape, they go everywhere” and that “when there are five Malinois in the yard, it’s not easy”.
Faced with this, Marie is overwhelmed and no longer knows where to turn. “I have already contacted the Gendarmerie and the Town Hall”, she explains, so she decided to call for help an ornaise animal protection association*.
According to the association, “six Malinois are locked up day and night. The owner’s daughter called me urgently one day to tell me that all the Malinois were outside and that the tenant was not there”.
The president of the association therefore went there.
I was attacked by the Malinois, one of them grabbed my arm.
That day, she would have seen “two dogs which are very thin and which have traces of injuries”.
A situation that Marie has decided to hide from her mother, owner of the place, because of her health problems, which means that today she does not know what to do and fears the state in which she will find the apartment.
I still put three coats of paint to redo the apartments. I do this in my free time and I can tell you that I don’t have a lot of it. We’re going to recover a dump.
A fear confirmed by the president of the association who was able to see the place, “the dogs have screwed up the whole house”.
Hunger strike to shake things up
Despite this, Marie is well aware that the dogs have nothing to do with it.
We are very sad for the animals, they go crazy, they are thinner. I want the dogs seized, because it is no life for them. It will end in tragedy, the neighbors are fed up.
Faced with this situation, Marie decided that “if nothing is done, I will go on a hunger strike”.
She hopes that with this action things will move. At the latest news, “the mayor would have recovered a dog and wrote a letter to the public prosecutor”.
Denis GuittonTHE Mayor of Rugles said he was alerted to this situation “by citizens who complained of dogs barking. Malinois were in a closed trailer.
The aedile confirms having entered the prosecutor and informed the gendarmerie.
Faced with this situation, he even had to take home one of the dogs that had run away over the weekend.
I informed the owner that she could not keep her dogs like this.
Denis Guitton would have offered to give some of his dogs, something she refused.
“If the prosecutor orders to seize the dogs, we will do it with the gendarmes, who themselves have already moved several times”.
The mayor claims to understand “the annoyance of my constituents” and hopes that “we will find a solution quickly”.
