Learning to “read” your dog, “from the tip of its nose to the tip of its tail”, such is the promise of a small company, based near Romorantin (Loir-et-Cher) and specializing in research canine of missing persons with the evocative name, Mantrailing Semper Fi.
This Saturday, a mantrailing course (from English man, man and trailing, follow) is organized in the gardens of Prés-Fichaux. A unique opportunity to discover this American discipline that is all the rage among dog owners. “Mantrailing takes advantage of the dog’s primary sense and by far the one he prefers: his flair, explains Clarisse Gilbert, manager of this company like no other. Thanks to the smell of an object like a scarf or a sweater, the dog must be able to find the owner on varied routes ranging from 800 meters to several kilometers, in town or in the countryside.
A Grand noir du Berry colt was born at the Pôle du Cheval et de l’Âne: the public will be able to choose its name
Of course, Clarisse Guilbert is there to accompany the trainees, whether human or canine. “We are here to give the keys to basic training with research exercises that bring the dog much closer to his master.”
Good physical shape
All dog breeds can practice the activity, from the smallest to the biggest, even if the Saint-Hubert, symbol of police research par excellence, has the greatest olfactory faculty: “It’s exhausting for the dog, it You therefore need an animal in good physical shape”, specifies Clarisse Gilbert.
A particular canine training, which is very successful. Proof of this is that the Berruyer course on Saturday is full, but Clarisse Gilbert regularly returns to the Cher.
